The event included more than 200 speakers and a show floor packed with technology demonstrations. Six key themes of transformation and disruption; driving business growth; data privacy and trust; the future of work; changing lives with technology; and applications of emerging technology completed the program.
CEBIT has a long history as one of the largest, international technology expos, with a peak attendance of 850,000 visitors. It has a long-held reputation as the place to discover and explore new trends in the IT industry. Originally established at Hanover fairground, Germany in 1970, CEBIT has evolved over time – with its 2019 show in Sydney, Australia focusing on engaging the next generation of tech creators, users, and buyers.
Bringing together leading minds, experiential activations, and fostering deep social connections
Daniel Mortimer, Event Director at Hannover Fairs Australia explains what CEBIT is all about and the value it generates for stakeholders: “CEBIT is an ICT event for business professionals, allowing them to network, learn and meet with vendors. Attending the event gives delegates the opportunity to understand the future of digitisation within business.”
“Technology has become ubiquitous across all business sectors and its transformation of roles and operations is ongoing and rapid. CEBIT appeals to a vast audience looking for knowledge and opportunities, so it’s more important than ever to deliver a seamless event experience.”
Integrated technology solution to facilitate engagement and networking
Hannover Fairs combined the Entegy Suite and Braindate to facilitate engagement between stakeholders.
“As an ICT event it makes sense to utilise technology as much as possible throughout the event. Our attendees want quick access to all the information available at the event and an app allows for that. Furthermore, the opportunity to network and maximise your time at the event increases exponentially with the use of event technology,” Daniel said.
The powerful technology solution allowed attendees the ability to book meetings with exhibitors, mentors, and other attendees through the event app. Attendees could also book into specific workshops and sessions through the app schedule.
ROI for exhibitors and sponsors
Daniel says they aim to deliver ROI to exhibitors and sponsors through several different ways: “namely branding, speaking and networking. Naturally, leads are also highly important to exhibitors so providing them with a tool that makes it easier to record, track and follow those leads only enhances their experience.”
The Entegy Suite Lead Capture app was sold onsite to exhibitors and sponsors as a premium option to collect interested attendees’ contact information and qualify on the spot. Wayfinding and an interactive floorplan were included in the app to ease the navigation of the large expo floor.
Digital event program ticks all the boxes
Daniel cites two key benefits of an in-app event program: “By providing real-time access to the program, not only can attendees find logistical information at the touch of a screen but can receive timely updates in the case of speaker and event changes on the day.”
“Secondly, the less we rely on printed material, the greater our potential to reduce our environmental footprint. The move to an app is a big step in the right direction for the event industry to develop sustainable practices,” Daniel said.
CEBIT also utilised the Q&A app features: “I really liked the scheduling and the questions feature of the app. I thought it worked well and helped our delegates to interact during the sessions. The feedback I had was fantastic and it appeared to deliver great functionality and efficiency,” said Daniel.
